From cycling through parks, treasure trails around the city of Olomouc, teasing out the development of the new Quality Criteria for Children’s play, visiting the School of one of our Advisory committee who has transformed his playtimes thanks to CAPS and more, the 2 days visit to Olomouc was eventful and action packed.
This is an experienced partnership who have already collaborated around children’s play in Europe and the ideas, expertise and enthusiasm of this partnership are a heady mix. There was great progress made towards the first years’ activities and having concluded the first research phase, partners were in an informed position to state what their countries needs were for a quality label to promote children’s play to their schools.
The group worked late in to the evening and then the balmy warn weather enabled much more conversations and discussions to take place in the informal setting of a centrally located woodland area where sausages were cooked over a fire and the atmosphere helped us ponder further over our work.
It was a very enjoyable trip and all partners particularly enjoyed visiting the school on the last day and were heartened that the previous visit to the UK and school that had been through the Outdoor Play and Learning label, were such an inspiration.
There is still lots to do on the project including getting the new European label agreed and promoted as well as writing a course to support schools but the group has got a strong base from which to take off from.
